UPON TRANSFERRING FROM ONE DISTRIBUTION COMPANY TO CWE DISTRO, WHAT IS THE TRANSFER PROCESS FOR MY MUSIC CATALOG?
When you are transferring releases you’ve previously distributed with another distributor to CWE DISTRO, we recommend that you request takedowns with your previous distributor after CWE DISTRO has delivered your music successfully. Keep in mind, the artwork, audio file, and all metadata need to be the same along with the ISRC and UPC codes. You’re able to obtain this information from your previous distributor.
HOW SOON WILL MY MUSIC GO LIVE ON STREAMING PLATFORMS?
If you deliver your release within 5 business days, it will go live in between 3 days to 5 business days after the set release date. We strongly encourage and recommend artists and record labels upload 6 to 8 weeks in advance; to allow proper planning of your release rollout, marketing strategy, and access to the Spotify algorithm. This in turn shows responsible release efforts to our DSP partners especially when being considered for editorial pitching.
Do I get paid royalties every month?

Yes, you will get paid royalties every month and will see them on your artist dashboard. Royalties are accounted for in monthly blocks by all DSPs. (i.e all streams/sales in the month of June). The royalty reports however, are generated 3 months after the month the stream or sale was incurred. (i.e royalties earned in June will be paid in September). This processing time also applies to the transfer of royalty payments.

Once we have collected the royalties and processed the reports, you will be able to access both in the ‘royalties’ section of your Artist Dashboard. You will be able to extract your money to your bank account of choice and download/review your report.

WHAT ASSETS DO I NEED TO RELEASE MY SINGLE, EP, OR ALBUM?

You need artwork and audio files. The following formats are required:

  • Audio as WAV file in 16Bit / 24Bit and 44,1kHz (all audio files will be converted to 16Bit)
  • Cover art as JPG file with at least 3000 x 3000 pixels and 300 dpi
Can I Change My Artist Name?
Name changes are doable however, there are risks! There is no guarantee that the number of monthly listeners and followers will successfully transfer to your new artist page. Streaming analytics should transfer over, however, it’s not guaranteed it will be 100% successful. If your new artist name is not unique, there’s a likelihood that it will land on a pre-existing artist page on release day. You would need to give us a heads up, with enough lead time before releasing so we can work on re-mapping the release. Name changes are a lengthy process. If you are planning a new release with the new artist name but want the new name to reflect in your existing catalog, it’s advised that you issue a transfer to CWE Distro and begin the process before setting up your new release.
